About the Band

Our Program

The Melissa Band Program was established in 2005 and has since evolved into one of the most distinguished band programs in the State of Texas. Throughout its 18-year journey, the program has achieved remarkable success, making its mark in various prestigious competitions.

The program has had the honor of participating in the Texas State Marching Contest four times. In 2020, it proudly secured the silver medal in the 4A State Marching Contest, and in 2021, it earned the bronze medal. This consistent recognition is a testament to the program's dedication and hard work.

Moreover, the Melissa Band Program has been consistently recognized with numerous UIL Sweepstakes awards, Best in Class Awards, and accolades such as Best Percussion and Best Colorguard. Its excellence has also been showcased in the NTCA (North Texas Colorguard Association) Percussion Championship and NTCA Colorguard Silver Medalist competitions.

The program has cultivated a culture of excellence and has seen numerous students achieve accolades by making it into All-Region, All-Area, and All-State Bands. These accomplishments stand as a testament to the dedication and passion of both the students and the instructors.

The purpose of the Melissa Independent School District’s Band Program is to support the Melissa ISD vision of empowering ALL students to reach their utmost potential to achieve excellence and life-long success.
